>FAMEX is an event organized by the Mexican Air Force and the Secretariat of National Defense, launched in 2015 to drive Mexico’s aerospace sector forward. The event’s planning and execution is managed by the FAMEX Committee.
The goal is to create an international, sustainable aerospace fair in Mexico with high prestige, leadership, and to attract foreign direct investment, create jobs in the national aerospace community, and promote Mexico’s aerospace industry, civil and military aviation, as well as defense and security technologies.
In the 2023 edition (FAMEX-2023), 703 leading companies from 51 countries participated, 71 aircraft were displayed, 6,123 business meetings took place, and 105,000 specialized visitors attended, with France as the Partner Country.
This success positioned FAMEX as the top aerospace event in Latin America and a one-of-a-kind event globally, as it’s organized by Mexico’s Armed Forces.
The event includes activities such as: Foreign Investment Seminar, Aerospace Education Forum, Technical Conferences, Aerospace Summit, Migration to the Aerospace Industry, Mexico’s Aerospace Industry Business Meeting, Rector’s Summit, Women Leaders in Society and Aerospace Sector Congress, B2B meetings, and aircraft demonstration flights and static displays.
The sixth edition of FAMEX will be held from Wednesday, April 23 to Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Military Air Base No. 1 in Santa Lucia, State of Mexico, right next to Felipe Ángeles International Airport.
Mexico has become one of the main hubs for the aerospace sector in Latin America and worldwide, leading the manufacturing of every phase of the industry, from design and engineering to assembly, conversion, maintenance, and recycling.
In the fifth edition of FAMEX, the Mexican Space Agency took part, showcasing technological developments related to the space sector, including telecommunications, Earth observation, space exploration, rocketry, robotics, and more.
The Mexican Space Agency also organized and hosted a series of roundtable discussions, conferences, and a specialized workshop on geolocation.
The Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry (FEMIA) forecasts a 14% growth in aerospace sector imports for 2024, which translates to over 10 million dollars, exceeding pre-pandemic levels.
For 2025, a 13% increase is expected, bringing the total to 12.114 billion dollars, driven by the industry's recovery and the reshoring of companies (Nearshoring).
With all this, Mexico ranks second in the world for aerospace factories, with 28% of them, just behind the United States.
